non of my experiences seems good enough for that trouble:
g4 733 MHZ, 3 Harddisks, 2 damaged now!
using mac os 9.2.1. and Jaguar (now Panther)
2 damaged Harddisks and the loss of all data. 3 sleepless nights and a coffee shock.
First error: wrong length of keydata in the header o.s. like that after freezing and restarting the G4 (german disk utility error what i've tried to translate for you) --> than my several tries to repare it (because it was unmountable) with several jumpersettings, initializing, erasing by using different systems from OS 9 until Panther; with the result --> " OSX utils say everything is fine but OS9 utils say "HFS+ Wrapper is damaged". Disk Warrior 3 says SMART is failed, Tech Tools 4 and Mac Os Disk First Aid or HardDisk Configuration can't help it. Should I trash the HD now? I don't understand how two HDs can suttently become a problem with OSX 10.2.8. running and writing the renaming of some folders??? I really lost tons of my non-backupped work!!! But anyway, I would be happy if I can use the hard disks again. Is anybody here who knows about that kind of computer jokes and can tell me a lil' trick to get this error "HFS+ Wrapper damaged" kicked? BTW: It seems to be recognized by DW3 as a S:M:A:R:T: Error, is this the same?
Any try of erasing disk, updating driver or initializing has failed.
Thanks in Advance
