ich hoffe, dass ihr mir weiterhelfen könnt.
Ist zwar etwas länger, aber nur desshalb, weil ich versuche das Problem so genau wie möglich zu beschreiben.
Ich habe das Computerspiel Dawn of War- Winter Assault vor einiger Zeit unsachgemäß von meinen Computer enfernt und konnte es danach nicht mehr neu installieren.
Der THQ - Support konnte mir da auch nicht weiterhelfen.
Dieser riet mir alle registry Einträge, die was mit Winter Assault zu tun haben, zu entfernen.
Gesagt, getan... hat aber nichts geändert (wahrscheinlich habe ich es auch nicht richtig gemacht).
Immer, wenn ich das spiel installieren will, kommt:

Der hat mir natürlich nicht helfen können, also habe ich mal gegoogelt und dabei diesen Lösungsansatz aus dem Englischen gefunden:
Cause
This error is caused by conflicting entries in the registry.
Solution or Workaround
Use a Windows Installer logfile and the registry editor to locate and remove the conflicting registry entries.
1. Open regedit by going to Start > Run and typing 'regedit'. Click OK.
2. Navigate to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer hive.
If the Installer key does not exist, create it by right-clicking in the right pane and choosing New > Key. The name should be Installer.
3. Create a new string value (Right-click > New > String Value) within the installer directory called 'Logging'. Double-click this entry to change the Value field to 'voicewarmup'.
4. Create a new DWORD value (Right-click > New > DWORD) called 'Debug' and double-click the new entry to set the value to 7.
Select the radio button for 'Hexadecimal' and click OK.
5. Exit the registry editor.
6. Attempt to install ArcGIS. When it fails, open up the newly-created logfile. This will be located in the TEMP directory. To find out where the TEMP directory is set, inspect the User Environment variable called TEMP.
The TEMP variable in this case is pointing at D:\temp. Look in this directory for a file called MSI*.tmp.
7. Inspect the log to find out where the install is failing. Look for the entry 'last line that generated an error'. Below this will be an error and then a key (such as HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Installer\Products\74BW21DBFDBD3D11EBAE000ACC725290\Sourcelist).
The long alphanumeric string is the 'unique identifier' for the conflicting product.
8. Search the registry to find all instances of the key found in the logfile. Delete all instances of this string from the registry.
9. Restart the computer.
10. Proceed with the install of ArcGIS.
If the installation fails, inspect the new log file and repeat the process in steps 5-8 to remove all conflicting registry entries.

Ich habe daraufhin einen "Wert der mehrteiligen Zeichenfolge" in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Installer\Products\9E8048DD1249F48479D9BD36163E8E82\SourceList
eingefügt (Name PackageName und nichts als Wert).
Daraufhin habe ich die Registry geschlossen und das Setup neu aufgerufen und die Finger gekreuzt.
Der Fehler kam nicht!!!
Dafür aber verlangt nun der Windows Installer, dass ich die richtige Quelle einlegen soll (neueste Windows Installer Version installiert und egal ob ich das Setup von CD oder von der Festplatte aus starten will es passiert das gleiche).
Ein Fenster vom Windows Installer öffnet sich und sagt:
Die Funktion, die sie verwenden wollen, befindet sich auf einer CD-ROM oder einem wechselbaren Datenträger, der nicht zur Verfügung steht.
Dann soll ich den Quellenpfad angeben aber keine Ahnung was er da will. Anbei dann noch die Fehlermeldung.
