Marquee: Funny Easteregg in Google

In Google’s search engine and the Google services are hidden numerous „eastereggs“: These small jokes or even whole games can usually only be found by chance. Google shows one of the hidden eastereggs when you search for „<marquee>“. This is the HTML command for a scrolling text. The Marquee command was introduced by Microsoft’s Internet Explorer and are now also supported by the Firefox and Chrome browsers: However, the Firefox developers have classified the marquee command as „obsolete“.
Mozilla even warns against using it: „(…) It is not recommended to use this tag because it is the worst thing you can do to your visitors„. Nevertheless, Google also supports the Marquee command in a special Easteregg: If you search for „<marquee>“ – the pointed brackets are important! – Google displays the number of results as a scrolling ticker. If you omit the angle brackets, you will see the normal display again: The number of search results for the entry „Marquee“ without movement is displayed here.
The special thing about it: Google does not use the <marquee> command for the ticker, but creates the animation via CSS: The Google code for the Marquee ticker therefore looks like this:
