Format your SD card / microSD card!

If you want to delete all data on your microSD- or SD-card or you want to prepare it for its future use, you can format it. This way all data will be deleted and the card is ready to be used again (or for the first time). To format your SD card or you microSD card, you’ll need to insert it into your computer. If you have no SD slot, there are many types of cheap USB card readers available.

After inserting the card in the PC or Mac, you can format it to delete everything that was previously stored on it. The best way to do so is with the free app „SD formatter“ which was developed by the SD Association (the developers of the SD card standard). The SD Memory Card Formatter works if SD/SDHC/SDXC cards and also microSD cards.
