Chrome Dark Mode: Change the color of the Chrome browser!

Chrome 74 will come with a new dark mode for Windows, Chrome 73 brought the dark mode already to macOS. In this article we will show you, how to activate the dark mode in your Chrome browser and why that could be an option.
When using Windows or macOS on a PC in a dark environment (e.g. late at night in the bed) the bright screen is uncomfortable to read for many people. Therefore Apple and Microsoft developed a darker theme for the operating system: If the dark mode is activated, all the apps that support the dark mode will also turn dark.
To activate the Chrome’s new Dark Mode, you just have to activate the dark theme of macOS or Windows: There is no option to only turn the Chrome browser dark!
Windows: Chrome 74 Dark Mode
We have tested the Chrome 74 Beta version to show how the Chrome dark mode will look like. If you want to test Chrome 74 also, you can find the actual beta version of the Google browser here: Chrome Beta Download.
To activate the Windows Dark Mode, go to the Windows settings and click on „Personalization“ » „colors“ » „default app mode“. In the video we’ll show you how to get there and how the Chrome browser will look like with the dark theme:
Apple Mac: Chrome 73 Dark Mode
On the Apple Mac, Google brought the dark mode for the Chrome browser one version earlier. Here is how the dark Chrome will look like and how to activate the macOS dark mode:
To activate the Mac’s dark mode, click on the icon „System Preferences“ in the Mac’s dock and select „General“. Here you can switch between the Dark and the Light Mode of Apple’s macOS!
